Seasons of Purpose Scholarship Policy

“It’s never too late to learn, grow, and fulfill your calling.”

“And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.” – Isaiah 33:6 (KJV)

Coordinator: Dr. Alayna Rangel

Established in honor of Michelle Thornburgh, the Seasons of Purpose Scholarship celebrates women in every stage of life who are answering the call of God and pursuing excellence for His glory.

Michelle Thornburgh possessed a genuine love for people and served as an encourager and friend to all who knew her. Known for her confident declaration, “I’ll make it happen,” she consistently lived up to those words. After her children began school, she returned to college and went on to become a special education teacher, inspiring every student she encountered. Her life is a testimony that with faith, determination, and grace—every season has purpose.

This scholarship is especially designed for women who are beginning or returning to college at a later stage in life—a reminder that no matter what season you are in or have walked through, you can excel in education and fulfill God’s purpose. It honors resilience, renewal, and the courage to keep growing.

The Seasons of Purpose Scholarship will be awarded at the Biennial ALJC WE National Ladies Conference, recognizing women who embody perseverance, faith, and a lifelong commitment to learning.

The Women’s Esprit Non-Traditional Student Scholarship exists to support women of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ who demonstrate sustained commitment to church life, community service, and Christian character, and who are returning to formal education after a significant interruption.
